Welcome to DONOUSSA, CYCLADES

Donoussa is the most remote island in the Small Cyclades. Recommended for those who really want to escape from the hectic pace of the city and wins over the visitors with its original beauty. On the island there are four villages, each one of them has something different to offer to the visitors. For your transportation between the villages there is a public bus, taxi and a traditional boat

Stavros or Kampos is the main village on the island, were all the main services of the island are situated. ATM, ADS, ticket agents and mini market, bakery, grocery, restaurant and café bar. The benchmark is the Church of the Holy Cross built in 1902 and the Church of Our Lady built on a hilltop in 1908.

Messaria with its low traditional Cycladic houses andwith the reference point of the two mills and the shingle beach Vathi Limenari. On the headland above the beach are the ruins of a geometric settlement.

Mersini has few inhabitants whose main occupation is farming. Two of the main attractions of the island are located here. First, the fountain with the perennial tree, one of the largest in the Cyclades, and then the Livadi, a sandy beach with its unique turquoise waters. The beach is connected to the village through a marked path (path 3). In Mersini during the summer there are two restaurants open.

Kalotaritissa is the most remote village on the island. Old fishing village, now it is only populated by an old woman. The low houses standing beneath the imposing bulk of Mount Papas. The resort has three beaches, each one different from each other. Sapounohoma, a pebble beach, Vlychos, a sandy beach, here are the “syrmata” and the Mesa Ammos or Tripiti sandy beach, more secluded than others. There is a restaurant there as well. You can reach Kalotaritissa from Stavros through marked paths (path 1) in 1h and 30min.

Finally there is the area of the Kedros Beach. In this area, some of the mines of the island used to operate. The path made by the wagons to the beach is distinguished as well as the positions of the galleries. In the bay of Kedros, you may also find the distinguished part of the sinking German warship, from the period of WWII. Near the beach, a café – snack bar is open from 9am until the early hours.
